Almond Butter Brownies

A chocolaty brownie that's not overly sweet is a delicious treat to enjoy after dinner. If you or someone you know needs to avoid gluten or milk products, this is a great option to try.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Organic Creamy Almond Butter
  • 1/3 cup Organic Agave Nectar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon good quality Vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350'F. In a mixing bowl combine wet ingredients; almond butter, agave, egg and vanilla.
  2. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet, stir well to combine.
  3. Bake in an 8"x8" glass baking dish coated with cooking spray, at 350'F for 20-22 minutes until brownies are set and sides begin to pull away form the glass.
  4. Let cool completely, then slice into 12 squares and serve.

Tip: Occasional sweets can fit into your meal plan when you count your carbohydrates. Include one of these brownies as part of your meal count and enjoy them right after your meal rather than on an empty stomach. Enjoying sweets in moderation with other foods, particularly those containing protein and fiber, will help to minimize unwanted blood sugar spikes.
