CGM reads consistently too low.

It’s a Dexcom. Would calibrating help?

  1. Hi - This is a great question. While I personally don't own a CGM, I was able to find this link which may answer your question: https://type2diabetes.com/clinical/calibrate-cgm. Another important point from that article, is that it mentions a finger stick and a CGM measure two different things. Finger sticks are a measure of blood glucose, and a CGM measures interstitial fluid. Are you trying to compare the two to find an accurate reading? You can also find more information about why these readings may be different here: https://type2diabetes.com/living/continuous-glucose-monitor. - Cody (Team Member)

    1. A couple of things…
      - You can calibrate the DG7, but not the Dexcom stelo. If you have a G7, definitely calibrate.
      - If it jumps abnormally from normal to below 50 during certain parts of the night, it could be that you are sleeping on it. i had this issue. I am a side sleeper. I put my sensor under my arm halfway between the elbow and the armpit with it toward the posterior just enough that it shows on my arm behind me and not pressed against my side when my arm is at rest by my side. This elleviated my issue and it hasn’t happened since.
