What Do You Do To Stimulate Your Brain?

Our minds race a lot, always worrying about a million different things at once. This is especially true when it comes to our health. What do you do to just relax the mind? Some people like reading, writing, painting, etc. We would like to hear from you. Diane

  1. I definitely struggle with this, particularly when I'm obsessing over my blood sugar numbers or second-guessing my food choices.

A few things that help me: I've gotten into cooking low-carb recipes, which keeps my hands busy and my mind focused on something productive. I try hard at it even though I'm not that good. Also just going for walks around the neighborhood - clears my head and helps with blood sugar too. It's nice to find activities that help both mentally and physically.

    1. Those sound like some good strategies. I've always felt so much more centered when I walk or run. I can simply zone out. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the meals. You will improve over time, I'm sure. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Walking in nature is always helpful. If it’s late or I can’t get out I like to read, do crossword puzzles, and especially cook. LOL
Chopping and dicing fruits and veggies is very relaxing for me.
Something about the repetitive motion and trying to be precise keeps me calm.

    1. Thanks for sharing ways you keep your brain busy! The ideas that you have shared are great! -Lauren (Team member)

  3. I get out of my own head by picking up a good book. It's easy to get lost in a mystery, humorous,or romantic novel.

    1. That's a great idea! What are you reading now? Thanks for being part of the Type2Diabetes community! Warmly, Kathy (Team member)

  4. I listen to soothing music off youtube along with 7-6-4 breathing technique for immediate relief, these work like Magic!

    1. Thank you for sharing! These are really good strategies for relaxing and clearing the mind. Do you have a favorite playlist? All the best, kathy (Team member)
