Managing type 2 diabetes can be expensive. Treatment, testing supplies, doctor's appointments, food, exercise equipment, and more can add up. Were the costs of diabetes management what you expected? – thanks for chiming in! Yes, testing strips can be very costly, especially depending on how many you may use in a day. It certainly adds up. I know some people with insurance mention that theirs doesn't cover enough strips for how often they test. Some people in the community will use generic brands of strips to cut down on costs. my insurance only covers 200 a year, that’s insane, I test 2 to 4 times a day, would never be able to test as much as the diabetes classes say to. They say test when you get up in the morning, and before and two hours after eating, that would be seven times a day. That’s a lot of testing and money. Considering I eat breakfast lunch and dinner okay that’s 6 times a day had to add that up again. Still the strips cost me $ 60 something when my husbands health benifits don’t pay for it and with my needles it’s 70 something. I’m sure it’s more in the US but I heard there are coupons you can use in the US.
I agree with everyone here. I had no idea and even with insurance and Goodrx it remains costly to stay healthy.
