Prediabetes and a Higher Metformin Dose
Hello, I've been on 500 mg of metformin for 2 years. My a1c stays around 5.9
Last week I had a fibroscan and found that I have severe fatty liver but no fibrosis.
If I go up on the metformin to 1000 mg will that help the fatty liver more? I don't mean burn fat off the liver because that happens best with diet, exercise and weight loss but by making the liver produce less glucose and not be stored as fat?

I've lost weight since the diagnosis a few weeks ago.
My pcp ended up bumping the metformin to 1000 mg daily.
Likely won't touch the liver fat but if I am less insulin resistant that helps overall including the livers glucose production becomes less.That sounds like a great strategy.
