Log term type 2 Side Effects

I have had diabetes type 2 for over 20 yrs and not suffered any side effects but 4 years ago I started to get hot flushes with tingling fingers and fuzzy headaches up to 18 times a day. I consulted many Doctors and Specialists and various medications with no one able to diagnose my problem so I decided to try Hypnotherapy in 2004 with some success as after 3 months I was only having 2 or 3 a day and I could live with that and it stayed like that until January when it suddenly came back with stronger flushes.
What I would like to know if any others with type 2 have experienced anything similar as my current Doctor thinks that it might connected in some way Cheers Gordon

  1. Hi Gordon. That must be awfully unsettling. While your symptoms might be connected with your type 2 diabetes, it's really important to rule everything else out, especially if your blood sugar levels are well-managed. I see that you have consulted several specialists, but have you ever seen a neurologist? Tingling is a common symptom of diabetic neuropathy, but it is also symptomatic of several neurological conditions, like MS.
Do you see a primary care doctor or an endocrinologist for your type 2 diabetes? Some people do experience hot flashes as their diabetes progresses. If you don't see an endocrinologist, I wonder if that experience might help. An endocrinologist might be better equippied to determine whether your systems are diabetes-related, due to a hormone imbalance or caused by something else.
I hope you get input from others in the community and that you eventually get some relief. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)
