T2 started Toujeo and started having elevated bg

My name is Rob, i have had t2 for 5 years. I have never been overweight and lift weights 3 to 4 times a week. My a1c upon diagnosis was 12.4 i was put on metforim and ozempic. I am 5'11 and 185 pounds before ozempic. I dropped down to 150 pounds and looked emaciated and felt weak and sick, i could never go above o.5mg. My a1c stayed about 7.5 i recently switched jobs and changed insurance. I did not have coverage for 3 months and could not afford ozempic out of pocket. I decided to stop ozempic because i was tired of looking like a sick skeleton, and decided to try insulin. I was placed on Toujeo. My bg was between 170 and 210 wirh just metformin. I have taken 3 injections of Toujeo and my bg skyrocketed to 350...i dont know whats wro g

  1. Hi . I can understand why you are frustrated. Do you see your primary care doctor or an endocrinologist for your diabetes? Have you ever been tested for latent autoimmune diabetes, sometimes called type 1.5? LADA is often misdiagnosed as type 2. We're not medical experts, but you seem to have many of the signs and symptoms. Here is an article about the types of diabetes that includes a discussion of LADA: https://type2diabetes.com/what-is-t2d/types. It might be wise to either ask for an evaluation. I hope this helps. Warm wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. I am starting to think i have lada. I have never been tested, and had to ask my dr several times for a cpeptide test. She keeps pushing the glp1 even though i was under weight with a a1c of 7.8. It was my idea to go the insulin route...which after that weird spike...has brought my sugar down to 100. I do not have an endo, i am trying to get a referal, but its hard to find one in Hawaii.
