Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last month, and as you can imagine, it’s been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. My BMI is still high at 34 kg/m², and I know I have a long road ahead when it comes to both managing my weight and this new diagnosis.

Right now, I’m in that early phase, trying to take in all the information, make better choices, and not get overwhelmed. I’m very aware that this is just the beginning of my diabetes journey, and there’s still so much more I need to learn and do to get things under control.

I joined this forum hoping to connect with others who understand what it’s like to navigate both obesity and diabetes at the same time. I’m looking forward to learning from your experiences, sharing my own along the way, and hopefully building some accountability and support.

Thanks for having me here.

  1. Thank you for introducing yourself! You will find this community to be incredibly helpful and supportive. There are many articles about nearly any topic you may have questions about regarding your new diagnosis. Take it all in slowly and make small changes that are maintainable. All the best, Lauren (Team member)

  2. Welcome, Jamal It’s great that you decided to join and reach out that first step of connecting with others really does make a difference. I totally understand how overwhelming those first few weeks can feel, but it sounds like you’re already on the right path by wanting to learn and take control early on. Managing both diabetes and weight isn’t easy, but it’s absolutely doable with small, consistent changes and support from the community. You’re definitely not alone in this glad to have you here!

  3. Diet and exercise is key. There's no cure for diabetes, you just go into remission. Good luck.
