Feeling dizzy.

I am recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I was feeling dizzy so I went to the doctor and they said I have type 2 diabetes and gave me metformin this is day three of metformin the first two days I felt perfectly fine but today I've been feeling dizzy on and off all day then I eat something and I feel better. Is this normal? Should I stop taking metformin? My doctor won't get back to me the assistant said they'll call me sometime in the next 3 days.

  1. Hi . Welcome to the community! I'm glad you found us. It can take a few weeks for your body to adjust to metformin. Have you tested your blood sugar when you feel dizzy? You might be experiencing some blood sugar lows. That would explain why you feel better after you eat, but it would be wise to confirm that by testing. If that is the case, you might want to carry some hard candy with you in case you're not near food when it happens. I hope your doctor gets back to you sooner than three days. In the meantime, if ever you feel unsafe, don't hesitate to call your doctor again or make a trip to urgent care. Best to play it safe. Keep us update, if you don't mind. I'll be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
