Change in blood glucose without change in diet

In the last few months my blood sugar has gone up dramatically resulting in an a1c increase from 6.6 to 7.5. I haven't changed my diet. I can eat a salad at work and six hours later my blood sugar is still 160. I don't notice any signs that I have any infection brewing. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?

  1. Thanks for reaching out. You are not alone here. It can be frustrating when blood sugar spikes higher than you'd expect. There are other factors that can raise blood sugar, including stress, illness, caffeine, poor sleep and medication changes. I'd encourage you to speak with your doctor and/or Registered Dietitian about any new, changing or concerning symptoms. In addition to speaking with your doctor, this article gives more info on factors that increase blood sugar that may be helpful to you: https://type2diabetes.com/living/5-causes-high-blood-sugar.
