Someday in the future, we're going to have a medication for every person, I am new to this forum and like to read some discussions. The best to answer your question is to talk to your doctor, however, we share information.
When I found out that I had diabetes I started with 3 professionals, a doctor, a nurse, and a nutritionist. My numbers were too high, and the doctor prescribed two medications. After one month I started having low numbers like 65, so I stopped one medication until I see my doctor. The doctor agreed with me and I used metformin for 8 years.
It's important to be followed by a professional because each person might be different.
What I do is walking 1/2 hour every day, control my carbs and take my medication as prescribed by my doctor.
