Junk food?

I've been told to try gluten free for two weeks and so I purchased a bag of Veggie Sticks made by CVS "Gold Emblem". They sure tasted good but my blood sugar went berserk. Way high. 1.5 oz with 30 g carbohydrate. My doc said that you should eat a protein with a fast acting carb...so dip them in whipped cream cheese? Cheese dip?

  1. Hi @hypolatot - that is a good idea - when eaten in combination with carbs, protein and fat may slow down the digestion of carbs resulting in a more delayed blood glucose rise ( https://type2diabetes.com/nutrition/why-count-carbs ). Did you try them dipped in either of these? Sounds delicious to me! Best, Margot, Team Member

    1. I would eat carrots and cucumber during snack instead.

      1. Instead of junk foods, frosted corn flakes is a fun alternative.

        1. Wouldn’t cornflakes kick up your numbers?

      2. Try making Keto treats they are low carb.
