Glucose Levels

Hi. Diagnosed a week ago Type 2. Lost 9lbs in weight. My G.P has referred me to a Diabetic Nurse. But I’m in the dark. I haven’t eaten many carbs. Was suggested I get a glucose monitor. Just did my bloods and it was 1.1 This is low. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank w.

  1. Thank you for sharing and reaching out. I'm glad to hear that you have a Diabetic nurse to work with. Be sure to write down your questions ahead of time. Are you also taking any diabetes medications? It may be that you are eating too few carbohydrates to have such a low glucose level and to have so quickly lost 9 lbs. In addition to speaking with your doctor, these articles give a great overview on nutrition and diabetes management: https://type2diabetes.com/diet-nutrition/healthy-nutrition and https://type2diabetes.com/diet-nutrition/guidelines. Please let us know your questions. Wishing you the best as you navigate this new diagnosis. Best, Kelly, Type2diabetes.com Community Moderator

    1. Thank you so very much for replying so quickly. Much appreciated. I definitely have been eatfar to few carbohydrates. I just panicked when I got my diagnosis. I haven’t had any help from my G.P. I have been referred but it will be a very long time before I am seen due to a huge back log. So myself and my partner decided to go low carb thinking it would be safer. I will ask some questions, if that’s ok? And get back to you. Thank you once again. Andy🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
