Getting Sick In Another Country

My husband and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas last week. If you have ever been on a cruise, lots of drinking and eating. We went sightseeing. The temperature was 83 degrees. My husband started not feeling good and thought he was going to pass out. He hadn't taken his insulin shot!!

I always travel with notes from our doctors and a prescription in case of an emergency. I'm in another country and don't have a clue what to do. We got a taxi to take us to the nearest pharmacy. Long story short, after numerous phone calls; they were able to give him a shot. They did make us sit there for almost an hour just to be safe.

Have you ever got sick away from home? How did you handle this? I was in panic mode but tried to remain calm.

We would love to hear from you.

  1. My friend was going to travel out of the country. His doctor advised her against this because he didn't know how easy or hard it would be to get treated if something happened to him. The sad part was that he didn't take out any trip insurance, so he lost all his money. What would you have done in this situation? I would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)
