A1C

Hi all. I'm not diabetic yet however I'm probably pre-diabetic.
In August 23 got a A1C test done thru my doctor. Results were 6.82 mmol/L. 41 mmol/mole.
Borderline I believe.
Trying to be pro active I got a home tester which gave 8.7 mmol/L. 54 mmol/mole.
My question is can a A1C level can quickly in 1 month?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Ian

  1. Hi Ian (). Welcome to the community! How wonderful that you are being so pro-active. A1C tests measure blood sugar levels over the past two to three months. So you are unlikely to see results of dietary or lifestyle changes you have made that quickly. The results for that recent test could be taking into account blood sugar levels going back through June. It would be wise to report the reports to your doctor, but you might want to work on changing things up for a few months before you test again. A l;ittle change can go a long ways toward bringing those levels down. I hope this helps. Please keep us posted, if you don't mind. I will be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thanks@ I've made big changes in diet actually since August. I'm starting however to doubt the accuracy of the home machines as that's a big jump.

      1. It is possible your reading wasn't entirely accurate. That is a pretty huge difference.
