    Hi Sheigwa,
I am sorry to hear about your new diagnosis. Thank you for reaching out to the type2diabetes.com community. I hope you find the information on this site helpful. Controlling/monitoring/reducing daily carb intake is often a good starting point. Carbs are in may of the foods we eat: bread, cereal, pasta. rice, fruit, fruit, dairy, desserts, and sweetened beverages. You may find one of the following articles helpful: https://type2diabetes.com/diet-nutrition/guidelines/; https://type2diabetes.com/diet-nutrition/reading-food-labels/; https://type2diabetes.com/nutrition/fiber-sugar-carbohydrates-how-do-they-relate-to-each-other/. I would also encourage you to ask your doctor about meeting with a registered dietitian. He/she can help you formulate a meal plan that meets your personal needs/goals. Best wishes!
