A. There are numerous resources available to help you find a good specialist. The Association of Incoming Investigators (AII) www.aii-online.org is a great place to start. They have a multitude of resources to help you find the perfect specialist match including an NDI search tool, in-person and online retreats, webinars, and more.
B. Finding a good specialist can be challenging, but there are some tips that can help:
1) Be patient and persistent – don’t give up! It can take time to find the right specialist match, but it is worth it in the end.
2) Do your research – do your due diligence on the specific doctor or dietitian you are looking for. Find their bio, credentials, education, any local connections they may have, their social media presence and, anything else you can find out about them!
3) Go with your gut feeling - if something doesn’t feel right about a potential specialist match, then trust your gut! If something feels like it isn’t quite right, then move on to another match.
4) Ask for recommendations – ask for recommendations from friends and family or online forums like NBCM or Q&A websites like Quora! Getting recommendations from people that know the doctor or dietitian well can be extremely helpful in finding a good match!
