I just found out I was a diabetic yesterday.my levels are 11.0 I've been battling belly fat for along time trying everything to lose sum weight 😒 I can't win..when I was told I had diabetes I cried on the phone to the nurse as I'm so scared. I also suffer from PCOS Wich I was told can make it worse..doctor wants to put me on MEDAFORMIN and I'm scared of what I read about the symptoms side affects ect..I'm in need of someone's help as my doctor doesn't hear me out enough.
I have 5 min to talk to her and that's not enough time, for questions ect..

I'd really appreciate it if someone/ anyone could reach out to me who is in the same boat.someone who knows more and give me sum advice.
I'm very scared and it would be nice to talk to someone..thanks..Holly.

  2. Hi @CommunityMember9ebe98
It's daunting when you begin this journey, especially when you are not being heard by your doctor. I though this article might be helpful, these two types of professionals can be invaluable members of your healthcare team:

    1. I hate to hear you're not being heard by you're doctor. I can't tell you how many of our members have echoed the same experience you're having. I want to encourage you to stand firm in advocating for yourself. Here is an article that gives some great tips on how to speak up and be seen and heard by anyone that is a part of your care team: https://type2diabetes.com/living/self-advocacy-tips. Secondly, managing multiple health conditions can be a challenge and it's important to know as much as possible about both of them, especially when coming up with a treatment plan. Here is another article that talks about the connection between type 2 diabetes and PCOS: https://type2diabetes.com/living/pcos-connection. Lastly, weight management is a journey, and it takes time, so give yourself grace along the way. There are many ways to sit fit and healthy and many of those ways are more common than we think! I encourage you to check out this article on how you can burn a few extra calories by just doing normal activity throughout the day: https://type2diabetes.com/nutrition/sneaky-way-burn-calories. And let me not forget our great recipes that are good and diabetic-friendly dishes to try: https://type2diabetes.com/recipes.
