Medication

After my nan passed away we received her medical records (for reasons I won't go into)
We noticed that she was taking Metformin 2g, empagliflozin 25mg and alogliptin 25mg 3 type's of diabetes medicine a day individually (no metformin combination tablet)
She was on only metformin 2g I. 2013, then she started having alogliptin 25mg since 2017 and had her empagliflozin upped from 10mgs to 25mg in 2022 (not sure how long she was on 10mgs for)
Is it normal to take all 3 medications together or should she have been reviewed?

  1. , I'm deeply sorry for your loss. While I can't speak to your grandmother's condition or dosages, doctors will often prescribe those three medications either on their own or together. They can be safely taken, with doctors orders, at the same time. Wishing you and your family well as you process this loss ❤️
