How Can I Reverse My Type 2 Diabetes?

I know this is a loaded question. I was able to get off of medication for a while, but the minute I try to be "normal", I'm back on medication again.

I know we have to be patient and it takes time. I know that this has to be a lifestyle change, but it's not easy. I lost weight and started eating right. I was doing very well but fell off the wagon.

I'm curious to know if anyone has ever reversed their diabetes. If so, how did you do it? Diane (Team Member)

  1. I see all these websites from doctors who say they can reverse neuropathy but their treatment options are not covered my health insurance so a person either pays out of their pocket or continue to suffer.

    1. Hello , I know, you would think they would want us to get healthy. I guess there's no money in that. I know that I will continue to do the best I can and keep moving forward. Have you had to make any lifestyle changes? Thanks for sharing. Diane (Team Member)

  2. I've done it. Diet is key as is eating your food in a certain order (Seriously, it can reduce glucose spikes by up to 73%!) Start with protein, fats, fibre (any order but those FIRST) then wait 5-15 mins before having your carbs.

Another hack: Take a shot of vinegar 15 mins before eating. Glucose absorbtion will be reduced.

    1. I have never heard of these. I will check them out.

    2. good thing you checked with your doc! And yeah the trick is with vinegar it’s gotta be before the food at the very least (you can season as well) but that’s just because it takes time to affect your body in the way that likits glucose absorption and if you just take it at the same time, the glucose will be in your blood before that kicks in

    1. At one point my doctors had me take CoQ10 and Vitamin B12, not sure why they took me off. You have given me some great information that I will run by my kidney doctor. He seems to outtrump all my other doctors right now. I really appreciate all the useful information. But, on a side note, I am maintaining my weight. I haven't hit my goal yet, but working on it. Thanks again, Diane (Team Member)

    2. no problem. Hope it helps

  4. My NP told me my B12 was too high and stop taking it. Isn’t this a supplement that your body uses and then off loads the excess without problems?

    1. Hi . My son takes B12 because he is a lifelong vegetarian and doesn't get enough in his diet. He was told that, although B12 is relatively safe, super high amounts (like those given by injection to those who have deficiencies) can lead to side effects ranging from annoying to somewhat debilitating. Among those side effects are digestive issues, rashes, mood swings, insomnia and tingling sensations. Here is an article about Vitamin B12 from the Mayo Clinic that explains it well: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements-vitamin-b12/art-20363663#:~:text=While%20the%20recommended%20daily%20amount,Headache. If you don't want to come off it completely, maybe you can talk with your doctor about lowering your daily dose. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
