High blood glucose after exercising

Does anyone experience a spike in glucose after exercise?

  1. Thanks for bringing up this question, . As far as I'm aware, it is normal for your blood glucose levels to increase after exercise. Here's an article which talks about why this happens in more depth: https://type2diabetes.com/living/exercise-blood-glucose. There is also some great information from The American Diabetes Association, which says: "Most forms of aerobic/cardiovascular exercise will lower your glucose levels, while activities such as high-intensity training and weightlifting can raise it". Here's a link for more info: https://diabetes.org/healthy-living/fitness/why-does-exercise-sometimes-raise-blood-sugar.

    1. , hello! That has been my experience. I tend to spike after exercise but once it comes down, I can get the benefit of the exercise for sometimes more than 24 hrs. I feel counter productive when i see it go high but know it will come down and be sustained for quite a while after. Shelley, community moderator 🇨🇦
