Do You Have Diabetes And Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is commonly found in people with diabetes. I have had both of these illnesses for several years. My A1C levels are usually high. But along with that, I have tender joints and terrible pain.

If you have both of these what are some of the symptoms you are dealing with? Diane (Team Member)

  1. Recently I cut back on my sugar intake because I was experiencing pain flare ups in old injuries. Not sure if that's related but I thought I'd mention.

    1. , thanks for the great information. It is very helpful. If I could give up sugar, I would be so happy. I bet I couldn't even stick to an elimination diet. I am not that disciplined. These are some great tips as always. Diane (Team Member)

    2. I imagine that if it was life and death, you could easily. You just don't have that severe of motivation 😀

  2. , I loved what you said, and you are right. I don't have that severe of motivation. Well, today will be the first day for the rest of my life. Thanks for motivating me, Diane (Team Member)

    1. I have had fibro since high school following a car accident. Now i’m on insulin 4x a day because I never was able to get treatment for HCV. Winter is not fun with fibro and chronic pain. I’m already getting tender spots, bruising and sores from injections and I’ve only been on insulin about 3 mo. Plus the itching, neuropathy and insomnia are a pain.

      1. , I am so sorry you have went through so much in your young life. I also have fibromyalgia and psoriatic arthritis. So I understand the pain. I hate cold weather. It's like someone has frozen everything in my body.

I have been taking injections for over 20 years now. These are some things that have helped me. Of course, we are all different, so this might not work for you. I have tried antihistamines and topical lidocaine. If you can't find something that works, you can always reach out to your doctor for directions.

Some community members have talked about applying ice cold compress to the area for a few minutes before and after the shot to reduce swelling and bruising.

Let us know what you find out. Diane (Team Member)

        1. I don’t have fibromyalgia according to any of my recent medical records from the chester clinic. Finally, a cure.
