Did you ever come across a food that kills type 2 diabetes?

I, unfortunately, have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I am having a lot of difficulties adapting my food routine. I have ordered a bunch of products and I will post them as soon as I try one. Have you ever come across something that helped you?
All the best, R

  1. Liz is correct. Once you’re diagnosed as a diabetic, you will always have. Therefore the best thing you can do at this point is connect with a dietitian who is well versed with diabetes and work with them to come up with an eating plan that works for you. If you’re not able to immediately find one through your doctor, then try some of the grocery stores. Some of these stores have nutritional services. I’ve personally used one at my local grocer and had a great experience. Also look up sites like Diet Doctor. That particular site is very healthful as well.

    1. Keto and carnivore moved my A1c from 12% to 5.4%. No meds and no symptoms.

      1. Interesting. I've never heard of LDL-c described that way. Now you have me curious, LOL. I'll go look that one up. If you have resource to share I'd happily read it. Do you have a cardiologist following you? They tend to be more strick than PCP. Shelley, T2D moderator

      2. it’s called a NMR profile from labcorp. You can google labcorp NMR for details.

        Cholesterol is a rabbit hole.

You have the traditional diet heart theory that has been around sense the 1960s, which drives the standard of care today.

And there is now a theory called the lipid energy model that explains an alternative reason for high cholesterol. There is a good paper on it at pubmed.

    2. Unfortunately there is a lot of misleading info about type 2 diabetes. Much of it is aimed at blaming the victim. Despite exercise and low carb dieting I’ve been diabetic for 12 years. My sugars are sky high upon waking. With meds and diet on less than 20 grams of carbs a day I was able to keep my A1c to 7.1 for years. Now it doesn’t work anymore and I’m on insulin. People comment they can’t believe I’m diabetic because I eat well and am not obese. I’m stating this because type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease and different for each person. I know people who are 300 pounds and aren’t diabetic. I wish there was accurate info about the disease instead of the perception that it’s only fat, lazy people that get stuff their face who are diabetic.

      1. It is a shame that there is so much ignorance surrounding type 2 diabetes, . Some people are able to keep their blood sugar under control with diet alone because their pancreases are still functioning fairly well. Cutting out the highly process carbs balances things out again. But the more diabetes progresses, the less insulin their bodies produce and the more they have to change their diets until, like you, people who always adhere to a low-glycemic diet and have practically no body fat need prescription insulin. Biology is to blame, not the individual. Every journey is different. I really wish you would get compassion and empathy from others rather than shock that you are so thin and still diabetic. 2. Ahhh, yes, the “I can’t believe you’re diabetic” line. I’ve heard this many times although I was more the classic appearance of a PWT2D. It was after I’d lost a lot of weight. With all the education regarding diabetes out there, there is not enough attention paid to “diabetes is different for everyone”. No two journeys are the same, perhaps some are similar but some clearly are not. Diabetes is progressive despite some of what you will hear and read. You can put it to sleep but it tends to wake up when we aren’t expecting it, like, when we get older. I’m not suggesting you’re old though! Mine has changed, I have lived with diabetes for almost 17 yrs. You are not alone in your frustration, I feel your pain. All we can do is continue to look after ourselves and educate those who do not know, when we are strong enough to teach. When we’re not, just walk away and take it up with those who need teaching another day. Shelley, community moderator 🇨🇦

    3. No food can "kill" or cure type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a complex metabolic disorder that is influenced by various factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and overall health. While there is no single food that can completely reverse or cure type 2 diabetes, a balanced and healthy diet can play a crucial role in managing the condition.
