If you have informed your employer that you have type 2 diabetes and you have provided any required documentation, you are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act. If so, it might be wise to reach out to your representative.
A new diagnosis of type 2 diabetes can be overwhelming. It can take time to adjust and to get your blood sugar under control. I understand that they need to ensure you have control over the classroom, but it shouldn't be a major inconvenience to allow you to snack on something small when you feel your blood sugar dropping. Is there another teacher on staff who has diabetes and might be able to offer some blood sugar management advice? Have you considered getting a continuous glucose monitor, at least for a while? That might help you get more control over your highs and lows faster.
