How do you cope with challenges?

With the current situation, what are the 3 most important things you do to cope with stress and sleepless nights?

  1. @ecumbroc I have begun yoga and meditation so I attempt to do those things for stress relief. I also will journal (by hand), color or do other creative things, stretching exercises, and communicate with friends using a variety of techniques (letters, text/direct message, video conversations, phone calls). Sleepless nights, the meditation practice helps a lot, I will also have something warm and non-caffeinated to drink, take melatonin and use Vicks Vapo Rub or Mineral Ice on my temples and jawline (the menthol scent relaxes me).

  2. I do water aerobics 4 times a week. It invigorates me.

  3. Did somebody here try out having a therapist? Did you have any positive experience?

    1. @ecumbroc, great question! I recently signed up for therapy, and it was a very positive experience. I tried the online therapy site/app called Betterhelp. It was definitely more affordable than traditional therapists, but still a bit pricey (worth it though, in my opinion). For the month I was in therapy, I spoke to my therapist on a weekly basis and I definitely saw improvements in my mood and my self-talk. I would recommend that everyone tries it at some point in their lives. 😀 I hope this helps! -Ashlen, Type2diabetes.com community moderator
