blood sugar spikes

this morning fasting was 91. two hours after eating it was 124. That is a spike of over 30. But, that's only 124 and I'm wondering if Ithat spike is even doing anything negative to me. I understand that if I started at 120 and went up to 153 I'd be in worse territory. Seems like that breakfast might be okay to eat as long as I'm starting from a low fasting number.

  1. Hi - Thanks so much for taking the time to post your question. I encourage you to consider asking a healthcare professional (HCP) you trust on whether a fasting glucose of 91 and a spike to 124 is within your normal healthy range. While we may be able to give you generalized guidance, your HCP would be able to take into consideration all the factors involved in your care.

I think it's also important to mention that some people wake up with naturally high sugars, due to an effect known as the dawn phenomenon. It's typically not indicative of a bigger problem, but it's good to watch out for. Here's a link to more info: https://type2diabetes.com/clinical/morning-high-blood-sugar.
