HI dgr1, I’m sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. Adjusting to type 2 diabetes can feel overwhelming at times. I hope that you find the type2diabetes.com community a place of support and helpful information. Meeting with a dietitian and diabetes educator after diagnosis can be especially helpful. Ask your doctor about getting a referral. You may find the following article helpful: https://type2diabetes.com/living/four-tips-on-being-newbie/, https://type2diabetes.com/living/newly-diagnosed-whats-next/. Wishing you all the best. Hi @lucylou,

Thanks so much for reaching out – you’ve come to the right place! In addition to comments from the community and input from your doctor, healthcare team, or a registered dietitian or nutritionist, these pages may help with a starting point:

    Healthy eating and meal planning

I’ve heard not to eat any foods like bread, potatoes, and pasta.

It’s important to remember that as bodies differ, different eating, diet, and management plans may work differently for everyone – and tolerance for things such as carbs can differ by person too! Working with a dietitian or nutritionist or checking levels a few hours after eating certain amounts can help find the best way for you!

Please reach out any time with questions, and welcome to our community!

    Warmly,
    Margot, Type2Diabetes.com Team Member
