   <p>Hi Smith! I am 73 and live in the U.K. and I sympathise with your sweet cravings. I got my Type 2 diagnosis two and a half years ago, although I was actually diagnosed in 2014 but the surgery I was with then failed to tell me the blood test results! Still, four extra years of happy ignorance. I knew I was sugar addicted so decided to go ‘cold turkey.’ People assured me I’d beat the cravings in about six weeks - yeah, right. A year later I hadn’t gone a week without crying. My family is fed up with me and generally unsympathetic. I’ve become frightened of eating anything and have been in therapy for over a year. However, I have found recipes for sweet stuff on the internet. Some of them are rubbish and just rely on giving you minuscule portions but a few are ok and better than nothing. Most of them replace wheat flour with almond meal and sugar with erythritol or xylitol. Chocolate and lemon are the best flavors for disguising the unusual ingredients. If you don’t have nut allergies I’d be happy to direct you to some of the recipes I use. Keep gritting your teeth!</p>
