My Life-Changing Experience
I rarely went to the doctor, several years ago for gall stones which I didn't need surgery for, and that's it.
Feeling sick
In June of this year I got very sick, I kept getting weaker and weaker and I was so sick I didn't eat hardly anything for a week. One Saturday evening I slipped and fell in the bathroom and was far too weak to get myself up, by the time I managed to get to the living room where a phone is, it was Sunday evening, 24 hours later.
I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was told my blood sugar was over 700, I was also severely dehydrated and my heart rate was high.
Feeling better
I was in the hospital until Thursday, by then my blood sugar and heart rate were much better, then I spent a week in physical rehab. I was taking insulin for a few days after I got home until I saw the primary care physician that was assigned to me, then he took me off all of that and put me on Metformin.
Since then I've quit the sweets and sodas. I guess crawling all over the floor for 24 hours, being stuck with more needles than a voodoo doll, and having more blood extracted than I thought I had in the first place...it kind of changes your perspective on things.
Gaining control
My blood sugar levels have been stable since then, I need to lose a lot of weight but I am beginning to, and thanks to God I have wonderful peace about the whole ordeal. Also thanks to God for ridding of my sweets addiction, I eat fruit instead and that is enough for me, and I do like vegetables too.
It's by the grace of God that I am here now, He's had my back through this whole thing, He is amazing.
