What to eat

My number this morning at 11:00 a.m. was 144. Had not eaten. I ate a bowl of chili with a few Fritos and a spoon of sour cream, and at 3:30 it was 194.

  1. Thank you for sharing and reaching out. Be sure to speak with your doctor and/or Registered Dietitian about your typical blood sugar numbers. It can be very helpful to keep a simple food/blood sugar diary to help you determine how certain foods impact your blood sugar. What was your serving size of chili and chips? The fritos have about 20g of carbohydrate in 1/2 cup, chili with beans has carbohydrates as well. Beans are a healthy fiber-filled food with protein and carbs but chili may have added sugar, so watching your portion may be helpful. Lastly, sour cream is also a source of carbohydrate.
