Wasting away, losing muscle?

So my boyfriend has struggled to control his diabetes the entire 7 years we've been together. He's had two episodes of pancreatitis (horrible experiences) and he's steadily lost his muscles. He's not overweight and has type 2 not type 1 diabetes.

I have tried to get him on a keto diet with minimal success. I have been looking into a version of carnivore diet especially since he needs the protein anyways and it would be eating something he loves so he would be more likely to stick to it.

What do you think?

  1. We appreciate you reaching out, . How considerate of you to be reaching out on the behalf of your boyfriend! We are unable to provide medical advice on our website, but can say that a healthy diet is certainly a very important part of managing Type 2 diabetes. Not all diets work for everyone, but other community members have reported seeing positive results from their experience with the keto diet. It sounds like your boyfriend would greatly benefit from meeting with a nutritionist, or discussing diet with his doctor. Additionally, staying active is also important for a healthy body. Is your boyfriend currently active? Please keep us posted on how he is doing! -Ashlen, community moderator
