This is closing my future

Well, I thought I had this licked with a plant-based low glycemic index diet. I've lost 14 kg in 2 months. I've done well with this approach before. However my fasting blood sugar was high last week on my 3 month visit to the doc. Very high. So I'm back into another endocrinologist.

I also have a sleep disorder that might be related. It's keeping me from qualifying me for any job. Isn't that fantastic? Now I'm forced to sell my house, move into an apartment, and simply flounder for the rest of my life. And I don't even know what's causing all this. My Father had the same T2 and sleep issues, so I guess this is it.

  1. I'm sorry to hear that you've been going through all of this, . It sounds like you had high hopes that this change in diet would reduce your fasting blood sugars. When is your next appointment with the endocrinologist? My hope is that they will be able to help provide some context as to what may be going on. 1. The first time around it did much better than all the meds. I came off the meds and it was better. My doc was very surprised. The new endo is end of July. I suspect the usual runaround. I'm a university trained biochemist, and I've had dieticians fired before due to their ignorance. I can't stand this stuff. The normal diets have my sleep apnea kicked up and weight gain. This diet I do well on. No clue why my resting sugar was so high. Thanks for the support.

      1. I'm sorry to hear this. I got diagnosed with T2 7 months or so ago and it was a shock and I definitely felt despair. However, upon improving my diet and cutting out ALL sugar (read ingredients always!) I am now back into normal A1 glycemic range. It didn't take long at all so I'm confident that could help you as well.

        1. Hi Sarge. I'm a biochemist. I don't eat packaged foods nor eat any sugar. Haven't for a very long time.

          1. ok, do you exercise at all? Also, did you know that the order you eat your food can affect glucose spikes? If you eat protein, fats, and fiber first, then any carbs 15 minutes after that, you can reduce glucose spikes by 70%+
