  1. HI dgr1, I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. Adjusting to type 2 diabetes can feel overwhelming at times. I hope that you find our community a place of support and helpful information. Meeting with a dietitian and diabetes educator after diagnosis can be especially helpful. Ask your doctor about getting a referral. Wishing you all the best. Take care, Meryl Krochmal, RD CDE Community Moderator.

    1. Hello, I was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago. I am having trouble trying to understand all the foods I can and cannot eat.

      1. Hi ,

Thanks so much for reaching out - you've come to the right place! In addition to comments from the community and input from your doctor, healthcare team, or a registered dietitian or nutritionist, this page may help with a starting point:

It's important to remember that as bodies differ, different eating, diet, and management plans may work differently for everyone - and tolerance for things such as carbs can differ by person too! Working with a dietitian or nutritionist or checking levels a few hours after eating certain amounts can help find the best way for you!

Please reach out any time with questions, and welcome to our community!

        Warmly,
        Margot, Team Member

        1. Diabetes is a chronic disease, which means there's no cure for type 2 diabetes as such, but studies show it is possible for some people to reverse it! A study by ‘The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (JCEM)’ revealed that certain interventions which include personalized exercise routines, strict diets, and glucose-controlling drugs can help in type 2 diabetes remission. You can know more about how you can reverse type 2 diabetes in our blog, ‘Can You Really Reverse The Effects Of Diabetes?’ For more information visit us https://dlife.com/all-about-diabetes/type-2-diabetes/
