Recent Lows

I am puzzled over some recent lows. I have had 2 events this week. The first one felt bad, seat pouring off me, confused, weak, and out of breath. Oddly enough this one was a higher number than the second one. I am on a basal insulin. I kicked this one back to 56 hoping to prevent another low. It failed. I was afraid to do another large dial back but did reduce 2 units this time. I am also on once weekly ozempic.

Typically, I am stable. I have had diabetes nearly 20 years. My last A1C was 5.7 in April. I have another appointment next week.

I'm wondering if it is my current life style. I am raising Grands (11, 5, and 20 mo) and working full time. Time is a struggle. I usually fall asleep when putting the youngest 2 down for the night. I wake 4-6 hours later and do the housework then back to bed for 2-4 hours.

    1. Thank you for sharing and reaching out. I'd encourage you to speak with your doctor about any new, changing or concerning symptoms, if you haven't already. Sudden low blood sugar can be scary and dangerous. Lifestyle changes, diet changes, exercise changes, sleep changes, etc. may all be contributing to hypoglycemia. In addition to speaking with your doctor, this article on causes of hypoglycemia and treatments may be helpful: https://type2diabetes.com/nutrition/understanding-hypoglycemia-risks-prevention-treatment. Have you made changes to what your eating? Wishing you the best, Kelly, Type2diabetes.com Community Moderator
