My Chart & other electronic communications

How do you feel about communicating with your doctor with MyChart or similar computer based platforms? Does it make things easier on you or do you prefer talking to your doctor? Tell us your thoughts!

  1. I certainly would rather talk to my doctor. Nothing beats human interaction with all the information you gain from tone, inflections and feeling a sense of caring from who your talking to. But I'm realistic in knowing that's not possible in todays doctors lives. Endless paperwork, forms and insurance requirements take up way too much time for doctors. I'm looking forward to seeing this change.

    1. Because I have so many health issues, all my doctors are through Kansas University Health System. They use MyChart. I can send a message to any of them, and if they want to consult with another one they can both see the entire conversation and both can then respond to me.
I can review notes from visits in case I have forgotten just what was said.
I can pre, check in, and not have to spend 20-30 minutes filling out paperwork, before I can see the doctor.
I also have a 22 yo autistic son, and they know to contact me through his MyChart.

      1. I like being able to see my test results as soon as they're available. And if they're not good, I know my doctor is going to be calling me that evening. Even if it's 6:00 and after hours, he will call me.

        1. How awesome that your doctor will do that, . Sounds like a keeper! - Lori (Team Member)

      2. I like that I can see my test results but it does take the place of speaking to my doctor when I have an important issue that's needs immediate attention.
In my last PCP's office (have left his practice) the phone could ring for 10 minutes and no one answered... Very unprofessional.

        1. this happens to me, rings and rings and then a message came on were on another call we don’t take messages. Can’t get through tried 2 times. Gave up.

        2. That is so frustrating! I would probably be mentioning this at my next visit (kindly, of course) Not everything can be done on MyChart, and sometimes, you do need to talk through an issue. Thanks for joining in the conversation. Warmly, Kathy (Team member)
