Is sweating a complication of T2D

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum and I have some questions. So far the Dr. keeps telling me that I am pre-diabetic, but I check my sugar fairly often because I have symptoms and it is (according to the monitor) high. Severe sweating is one symptom I have that really bothers me, and night sweats
Very uncomfortable!!! Does anyone else have this?

  1. Hi . Welcome to the community! I am glad you found us. Night sweats can be a symptom of nocturnal hypoglycemia, which means low blood sugar at night. Here is an article that discusses it: https://type2diabetes.com/living/low-blood-sugar. However, night sweats can also be significant of a hormone imbalance or another autoimmune disorder. Have you talked with your doctor since you began experiencing them? It might be helpful to have your thyroid tested. The best indicator of whether you are diabetic is your A1C. Your doctor should be checking that every few months to look for sustained patterns of high blood sugar. We all have blood sugar spikes sometimes, but people with type 2 diabetes can't bring that number down as quickly as they should. With the pre-diabetes diagnosis, you have a wonderful opportunity to make dietary and lifestyle changes that might prevent a type 2 diabetes diagnosis or at least push it off for a long while. Here is an article about pre-diabetes that you might find helpful: https://type2diabetes.com/what-is-t2d/types/prediabetes. We have lots of people in this community who are pre-diabetic or who are trying to control their diabetes without medication. So you should find plenty of support here. I hope that helps. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thanks Lori. I will read the articles. I do have hypothyroidism and have been medicated for years! Also have fibromyalgia and take Lyrica. Thanks for replying.
