My name is Nikki and I have had T2D since 2017. At first, my diagnosis was something I was ashamed and embarrassed about but when I took time to learn about the disease, I felt more confidence and less shame. I felt like I got my power back when I understood the lifestyle changes I could make to help manage diabetes. It was an empowering moment that I hope to share and inspire others.
1 fact about your life with type 2 diabetes- I keep all things fashionable when it comes to my T2D lol so that means, YASSS I use a leopard print bag for my traditional glucometer and an on trend sticker for my CGM. I find that keeping things cute gives me more of an incentive to check my BG and to stay on top of how I manage my diet and overall care.
1 of your favorite activities- I love to work on Interior Design and spend any free time I have just creating spaces
1 person or pet, important in your life! (P.S. We love pet photos!)- My two rascals, Nino (dog) and Tata (cat pictured below). They teach me so much about self-care!
