Hi there

I am type 2 diabetic and my blood sugars are variable from low to high most days. I am using empagaflozin.
But I get up 4 times a night to pee and also have had blood in my urine. The other week doctors said it was because of an infection, but I am not accepting this because it's still happening and forcing me to get up every night.
Doctors been funny about giving me the injection to lose weight. I am making another doctors appointment.

I don't understand how they can be so nasty about my request to help myself.

  1. Thanks for sharing and reaching out. I think it's a good idea to be persistent in discussing your symptoms with your doctor, including anything new, changing or concerning. A potential side effect of Empagaflozin can be more frequent urination. Definitely want to get to the bottom of the blood in your urine. What other changes have you made to help control your blood sugars? Have you been able to make any diet changes or add in more physical activity? In addition to speaking with your doctor, this article may be helpful to you: https://type2diabetes.com/treatment/medications/selective-sodium-glucose-transporter-2-inhibitors#Jardiance. Wishing you some answers and relief ahead. best, Kelly, Type2diabetes.com Community moderator
