Always Exhausted

Hi, I am not just tired but exhausted every day. Is it a side effect of non-controlled diabetes? My morning number run 180 -200 and 200 -250 after meals. A1C about 9. Does anyone else experience mental and physical exhaustion in their everydayhealth and life when numbers run high?

  1. Hi ,

I'm sorry you are feeling so exhausted. It can be a side effect of high blood glucose levels - for more info this post may help: https://type2diabetes.com/living/fatigue

Have you checked in with your doctor or care team about what you can do to help hopefully lessen the fatigue and lower your numbers if needed?

    2. Have you had your vitamin d checked, I was the same weak and exhausted from the weakness, I was deficient in vitamin d it can cause weakness and tired if your low in vitamin d, so now take a 1000 a day of vitamin d, the weakness and tiredness went away, some people with diabetes have low vitamin d, and yes high sugars can cause sleepiness or as you said exhausted. Your A1c is high. Do you take diabetes medication, if not talk to your doctor. I’m not sure what your numbers are to high because in Canada we measure like this 5.5, 6.4 it’s all with decimals.

      1. Great advice, ! My husband suffered from excessive daytime sleepiness even after being diagnosed and treated for sleep apnea. Vitamin D was the culprit even though he is in the sun often. His skin just doesn't produce enough. He felt the difference within a few days of taking supplements. As for the numbers, we use number like 5.5 and 6.4 in the United States for A1C. The A1C test measures a person’s average blood sugar control over the past two to three months. 's A1C is 9, which is high. The other numbers provided (180 -200 and 200 -250) are from tests of blood sugar levels in that moment. People people who do not have diabetes usually have a blood glucose level around 125 or lower when they are given a random blood glucose test. I hope that helps. Warmly, Lori (Team Member)

    3. Utilize my company benefit who sponsors the app Headspace and engage in different meditation practices.

      1. I'm glad to hear that you're able to use Headspace as a resource. It's such a cool tool! Do you have any favorite lessons that you return to again and again? I like the "Taking A Break" meditation - feels good to pause during the day for just a few minutes! - Cody (Team Member)
