Life is unbearable: severe nerve damage

Hi, I'm mags from Ireland... I'm a 49-year-old mum of 5 kids, 3 grown up and 2 under 15... I have type 2 diabetes for 15 years. To cut a very long story short, I have severe nerve damage for 2 years now and have numbness from my knees down... it's at the point now I'm afraid to eat as I've just found out recently that sugar (no matter how little) is toxic for nerves and sends them crazy. It has to be the worst pain I've ever experienced and I've had 5 huge babies. I'd rather have 5 more than one hour of this pain, it is a sharp, burning, stinging that comes in burst every 3/5 seconds like I'm being stabbed. It's horrendous... I don't know what to do if this is it for me... I want out?
