My Mother's Recent Diagnosis

Hello, my mother was recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

First steps after her diagnosis

She was prescribed metformin and given a glucometer. She has been recording her blood sugars in the morning and two hours after eating a meal.

Blood glucose inconsistencies and weight loss

We have noticed that even for the same foods in the same proportions that on some days she can have dramatically different results. I was wondering what could be causing these disparities.

Also, she has lost nearly 20 pounds since the diagnosis, but her glucose levels remain elevated.

How much more weight do you think she will have to lose to become insulin sensitive again? What suggestions do you have to quicken the process of controlling glycemic levels and possibly reversing type 2 diabetes?
