How to stop my sweets graving

  1. Hi . Kicking the sweets habit can be really hard, so I'm glad you're reaching out for help. For me, distraction is key. If I start to crave something sweet, it usually means I am tired or bored. So it helps to get up and do something physical. That can be anything from walking the dog to doing laundry. After a while, the craving passes. That won't worked for everyone though, so I hope you get feedback from others in the community. While you wait, here is a wonderful article about combatting sugar cravings that might help: https://type2diabetes.com/living/combat-sweet-cravings. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. I've been there. Cravings can be tough. It's not about willpower alone. It's often about balancing your meals. What I do stop sweet cravings is I make sure each meal has protein, fiber, and healthy fats. I also eat an apple or some berries instead of a cookie. Dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage can also satisfy a chocolate craving without all the sugar. Sometimes, a craving is really a sign of thirst. Try drinking a big glass of water first. Or just walk away from the kitchen for a few minutes. That can often be enough to make the craving pass.

      1. Those are some great strategies! Thanks for sharing. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
