36 hour fasting to lose weight

I’m new here and would like to know if anyone has experience with losing weight on this fast. I’m frustrated because I’m newly prescribed Teoujo long acting insulin and Ozempic. I was losing weight great with Oz. But that has completely stopped with adding insulin. I’m eating very little and still nothing. Any experience or advice? Btw I’m keeping carbs low. Have been for years but it doesn’t seem to matter.

  1. Hi ! Welcome to the community! I am glad you found us. I searched through our archives and could find nothing about taking Ozempic in combination with other diabetes medications. Hopefully, others will chime in here over time. Have you reached out to your doctor or pharmacist to find out whether they have heard of similar reactions? Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Hi Lori. Thanks for responding. I plan on speaking to my doctor in a few weeks but really would like any advice on keeping weight off with Teoujo insulin. I’m taking a low dose I’m new to insulin.

      1. , hello! Welcome to the community. I am not on the exact meds as you but something very similar. I also have a weekly injection (Trulicity) and take long acting insulin at night (was Lantus, now Tresiba). Also a small dose, 12U. I also experienced a stop in my weight loss when the insulin was added. Very frustrating! Insulin is known for ‘some’ weight gain or in my case, not weight gain, just not weight loss. If we think about what the action of insulin is, it’s the key that opens the cell and allows the glucose into the cell. It stores it and uses it for energy when needed. When the glucose is in the blood system it causes damage to the small blood vessels. When it’s stored it can cause the weight gain or stop your weight loss. I have heard people say it’s a vicious cycle. Well, it can be but we have to still do all the good things we were doing, watching our eating habits, and getting some exercise. The first good thing you have done is stick to your usual routine for healthy eating. The next best thing you have done is to call your doctor to see what can be done to get things moving again. For me it was adding a small dose of an oral antihyperglycemic. My weight loss started up again and I’m working on getting to my goal weight. One other option is to see a registered dietitian for support and a recheck of your eating habits. At this point in our diabetic journey (almost 17 yrs for me), we tend to think there is nothing they can offer us, which is true at times. But you never know what they can offer. I hope this helps you in some small measure. Shelley, community moderator 🇨🇦
