3-4 months in dkg last year waiting to l2 use insulin ama

Was diagnosed diabetic 2013 January 13th , had to wait until April 27th to learn to use insulin family doc said wait until your appointment don't go in early , dropped from 160lbs down to 90 was sleeping 30-50 hrs after some errands or a simple outing with friends , could barely get out of bed enough to game with a buddy on his day off for 2 or 3 hours, my social worker took me in 4 days early because I couldn't walk upstairs to sit in the living room with her and my mother , assuming 99.99% I shouldn't of survived

  1. 2023 not 2013

    1. Wow! I can't believe your doctor wanted to make you wait four months for treatment when you needed insulin. That's seems really irresponsible. I hope you have since found a new doctor. I am glad you are still with us! - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Yea when I saw him mid Feb he said just wait , don't go to the hospital you will feel sicker and shittier as time goes on , and still the same doc , there's a shortage in canada , my uncle who ran a major rcmp detachment thought I was into the drug crisis stuff brought it up a week ago, and was very open to calling his lawyer

    1. It's scary to think he is still practicing! - Lori (Team Member)

  3. , I was just browsing through the forums here and came across your post - my goodness! I can't imagine how awful those 3-4 months must have been. I found out I was diabetic at the end of June last year and I had to wait until the middle of August to start on insulin (my doctor had ordered antibody testing for type 1 and wanted to wait for those results to come back). The last three weeks before starting on insulin were absolutely horrendous. I honestly felt like I was slowly dying, which makes sense now that I know what insulin does for us. I can't even begin to imagine how you felt. How are you doing now? Better I hope!
