Diabetic, Heart disease and Diverticulitis

I was just diagnosed this past December 2021 and the thing is that I'm OK with following a new diet regarding my my diabetes but all the recipes I find has a lot of salt (heart) and I cannot have any nuts in my food (diverticulitis). Often I find myself stuck between a rock and a hard place regarding recipes. I spend a lot of time on the computer to try to find good recipes

  1. Thanks for commenting and sharing. It's great that you are researching new recipes and changing your eating habits for the better! I know what you mean about high salt content! I'd encourage you to be a bit adventurous and creative in adapting some recipes. Try to alter some of the seasoning to use less salt. You can add flavor with garlic powder, fresh or dried herbs, etc. That's the beauty of preparing your own meals is you can customize them to meet your needs. If you're making soup, try using low sodium broth.

If you're looking for more low sodium healthy recipes, check out our recipe page here: https://type2diabetes.com/recipes. You can search by meal type or ingredient. ie: lunch, snack, broccoli, etc.

Hope that helps! Here's to some healthy and delicious meals in your near future. Best, Kelly, Type2diabetes.com Community Moderator
