Lifestyle Adjustments With Diabetes

I feel like we have to all do our own research to figure out what works best for us. Diabetes Type 2 is something that happens due to our lifestyle. Yes, it's hereditary, but it gets turned on by the things we do. We could have chosen to be more active, to eat better, etc. But sometimes we love food so much (especially us foodies) that we just indulge. I'm that type of person.

Things change

I went from being healthy and in-shape to slowly being warned that my cholesterol was too high, or my triglycerides were too high (in my 30's), then I got sedentary in my late 40's, and turned into a foodie when I married a man who is a good cook. Now I'm Diabetic Type 2. I've been on a journey since.

Lifestyle changes with T2D

I've gone Whole-30, I've gone Keto, I've gone Vegan, I've gone Vegetarian. I've given up, and went back to eating bad, and I've cried. I've started studying, I've learned new things, and tried new things. In the end, I want to know what causes Diabetes Type 2, and I've discovered more than just eating, it's lifestyle. Sedentary lifestyles. Lots of sitting, eating too many calories at a single meal, being lazy.

"I'm smiling more"

These things I admit to. Now, I'm moving more, I'm eating less calories per meal, I'm eating near no saturated fats (because they're the cause - not sugar like everyone says) and I'm doing a lot of research. I'm finally feeling better, happier, healthier and I'm improving cholesterol, and my heart health too. I'm smiling more. It's wonderful. I'm on this journey... but, I'm not alone.
