Screening for potential new treatments

Hi all what's your thoughts of screening babies to see if they are potentially going to be diabetic? I read in a blog that JDRF are already doing research. Is this ethically sound? more info here - https://crumblingpavlova.blog/2024/04/22/it-could-be-all-in-the-genes/

  1. Thanks for sharing this, . It will be interesting to see how the community feels about this. Personally, I am all for it as long as the test is accurate and there are measures in place to prevent the misuse and unapproved share of the genetic information. Too often, Type 1 diabetes is discovered after damage has been done. What do you think? - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Hello , I think this is a great idea. Not only for diabetes but for people with other diseases as well. This could be something that could help our future generation. I think this is something that should be monitored very carefully since everyone is not honest. We need to know how this test is being monitored and how accurate is it. I also would think that things need to be in place so that things wouldn't be used for other things. Thanks for sharing. Diane (Team Member)
