Whole-Wheat Banana Muffins

These whole-wheat banana muffins have fewer calories, carbs, and less fat than your traditional banana muffin!


  • ¾ cup whole-wheat flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup applesauce, unsweetened
  • 2 very ripe small bananas (~6 inches)
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts

Makes 12 servings


  1. Lightly coat muffin tray with cooking spray
  2. Preheat oven 350 degrees F
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, and cinnamon in bowl
  4. Mix in slightly beaten egg, applesauce and mashed bananas
  5. Stir in walnuts
  6. Scoop into muffin tin
  7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 23-25 minutes
  8. Enjoy!
